If your kids are already on summer break or about to be, like mine, then you know how important it is to have some kind of structure in place. Sure, it’s summer and things should be more relaxed, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t things that need to get done. Instead of letting screens take over first thing in the morning, I created a summer screen time checklist that kids need to complete before getting on their electronics.

It’s a simple way to keep them on track and make sure they’re starting the day off right. This checklist gives kids a few tasks to focus on before jumping into screen time. And if these tasks aren’t something you like there is one that you can write down your own ideas.

Why Use a Summer Screen Time Checklist

A summer screen time checklist is a simple way to add structure to your child’s day without making things feel too strict. When school’s out, it’s easy for kids to fall into the habit of waking up and going straight to their devices or in our case the iPad.

A checklist gives them a routine to follow like getting dressed, eating breakfast, doing a chore, or spending some time outside. It also helps keep them from spending all day on screens.

Supplies Needed for the Screen Time Checklist

You don’t need much to use this screen time checklist, but here are a few optional supplies that might be helpful.
