It’s starting to feel like summer more and more around here. If it’s getting a little hot where you live, too, and you’re looking for an easy indoor activity—or just a simple, screen-free way to keep the kids busy—take a look at this Summer I Spy printable. I love that it doubles as a coloring page, and it’s also a fun little learning activity that doesn’t even feel like learning. Stick around to the bottom of this post to grab your copy of the printable.

How to Play the I Spy Activity

To play the I Spy activity is simple.

  1. Find the items listed at the bottom of the page. In this case, the items are summer-themed. You’ll look for sun, beach balls, sun hats, sunblock, and more.
  2. When you spot an item, count how many times it appears on the page.
  3. Write the number in the blank space right next to it.
  4. Keep going until you’ve found everything on the list.

TIP: You can also color the items as you find them. For example, if you’re looking for all the beach balls, color each one when you spot them. Then, do the same for the other items. Doing that makes it easier to track how many you have found.

The supplies needed for the summer I Spy printable are simple. All you need is the printable and a few optional items:

You can laminate this yourself at home, and if you do not have one, I’ve included a laminating machine, which is a good option. The best part of doing that is that you can reuse this printable multiple times, saving you money. Of course, if you decide to do this, you won’t be able to really color it in, but it’s still an option.

If you decide to laminate this printable, you can hole punch it and add it to a binder with other fun printable activities. Looking for more I Spy printables? Take a look at these:
