If there’s one thing our son absolutely loved when he was younger, it was pretend play. Whether he was being a doctor or acting like he worked at a fast food restaurant, he always had the best time getting into character. He’s outgrown that stage now (cue the sad face), but I still smile thinking about those days. We had so much fun—it was honestly the cutest. If you have a kid who also enjoys pretend play fun, stick around because I have a printable pretend play hamburger menu for kids. And yes, it’s free and easy to download.
Why Pretend Play Is Good for Kids
Pretend play isn’t just adorable—it’s actually good for kids’ development. It helps them practice communication, problem-solving, creativity, and even early math skills (hello, taking orders, and counting play money!). When kids pretend to run a restaurant or take customer orders, they learn how to express themselves and think through challenges—all while having fun.

The supplies needed for the pretend play printable are simple. All you need is the printable and a few optional items:
- The hamburger pretend play printable
- Cardstock – this is to make it a bit more durable than your regular paper.
- Optional dry-erase pocket sleeves are great if you do not have the option to laminate them and you would like to reuse the printable.
- Optional laminating machine: If you plan to reuse this printable, laminating helps keep the pretend play menu from getting damaged, especially with little kids.
You can laminate this yourself at home, and if you do not have one, I’ve included a laminating machine, which is a good option. The best part of doing that is that you can reuse this printable multiple times, and of course, this will help keep this printable in good shape to use next time.
If you decide to laminate this printable, you can hole punch it and add it to a binder with other fun printable activities. Looking for more pretend play printables? Take a look here.
Bonus Idea: Make It a Learning Moment
You can sneak in some learning, too. Have kids total up pretend orders with prices and practice spelling burger toppings. It’s a perfect way to practice early math and reading without feeling like it. We added pretend play money when our son got old enough to count and knew the basics. If you are looking to do the same, here is a go-to item that will go great with this pretend restaurant menu:
- Money: this one is realistic and will go great with the printable pretend-play menu. Encourage your child to give the exact change. These are important life skills they’ll need to know later in life.
