Stick around because, at the bottom of this post, I’ve got a color scavenger hunt printable that’s perfect for keeping kids of all ages happy and entertained. This color hunt is such a fun way to keep kids busy—whether it’s for rainy days or you’re heading out for a walk around the neighborhood. The best part? It doesn’t take much prep work. I love activities that don’t require you to do much. That is what makes this color scavenger hunt an awesome activity.

All you have to do is just print it out, and you’ll have a fun activity ready to go. Next time you need something quick and easy, this color hunt will be so much fun for everyone. Plus, I’ll share different ways to play so you can mix it up each time.

What is a Scavenger Hunt

A scavenger hunt is a game where people try to find certain items. In this case, you’ll be searching for different colors. You are looking for the color blue, white, yellow, brown, orange, green, and more. There are twelve colors in total you’ll be searching for. The goal is to find all of them.

Some scavenger hunts have you take pictures of what you’re looking for, others are rhyming clues. I’ve kept this scavenger hunt simple. All they have to do is search for the colors.

How to Play the Color Scavenger Hunt

There are different ways to play the color scavenger hunt, so let me walk you through them. Decide how you want to play—will everyone work together, or will the kids play on their own or in small groups? If they’re in groups, pairing older kids with younger ones can help make things fair. Either way works— go with what’s best for you.

Some scavenger hunts have a time limit, so if you want to add a challenge, let the kids know ahead of time. Otherwise, they can play at their own pace. Once they’ve found something in each color, they can mark it off or place the object on top of the color. Alternatively, kids can put these things in a small bag as they come across them.

For even more fun, I’ve also made a scavenger hunt where you can add your own colors — whether that’s a light green or even two colors in one square. For example, if you have something purple and yellow, grab a crayon and add both colors to the square for them to find. It’s a great way to mix things up next time you play, and children of all ages will have so much fun with it.

You can laminate this yourself at home, and if you do not have one, I’ve included a laminating machine, which is a good option. The best part of doing that is that you can reuse this printable multiple times. If that is the case, make sure to have some dry-erase markers on hand.

If you decide to laminate this printable, you can hole punch it and add it to a binder with other fun printable activities. Looking for more scavenger hunt printables? Take a look here.
